Your/our Christmas concert in Hamburg was, of course, fantastic as always... What Ronan does on stage (in the ages) is fantastic and full of passion....that of course applies to the whole crew......I think VNV NATION vs. COVENANT is the next interesting date in Hamburg (February 10th)..... .I'm so excited... but today first "OMD" in the Hamurg sports hall....finally see and feel "OMD" live again Aktionen Antwort

Got to see VNV Nation this weekend! 😊 Sorry the NYC audience was so ƒucking obnoxious that Ronan had to politely ask them to stop screetch-conversing over the music (and they still ignored him). And the Irving Plaza lighting techs were absolutely incompetent. 😭 So embarrassing, WTF New York.

VNV and Diary of Dreams in 2024, really hope there's cross-over songs or remixes!

Interessante Idee , gefällt mir richtig gut ..... Ich habe sie beide in einen relativ kleinen aber sehr guten " Dark Wave- Festival " im Hamburger Stadtparck gesehen und ich denke das würde gut passen ..... Interesting idea, I really like it..... I saw them both at a relatively small but very good "Dark Wave Festival" in Hamburg's Stadtpark and I think that would fit well.....

I feel Electric Sun is overall stronger work than Noire. The beginning of Noire is even weaker. Sure Noire has stellar tracks like When Is The Future? and All Our Sins but overall Electric Sun has more great content. Just my feel afte first listens.

Absolutely! The "weaker" tracks on Electric Sun grow on you with time. I feel like they kept production strong between the two albums. Electric Sun is definitely an improvement on Noire

Incredible. I don't know, the lyrics are so electrifying deep, incredibly beautiful, I can really feel it. Like Ronan made the things I bother my family with to a sounding orchestral underlined outburst. And that break on Wait, faszinating. And these drums on Sunflare. Let's just skip the eponymous song, I don't get warm with it. ^^ Electric Sun is great.

I was at work, so it didn’t immediately draw me in. I will give it another spin.

Electric Sun is a great album, no doubt of that, despite having some lows on the tracks at the beginning it has a great flow and keeps the ear up. Post-pandemic music is different, current events influence arts in general and this is truly expected for any kind of expression: the feeling between Noire (2018) and this release is, if not abysmal, really notable. To finish, the comment from Ronan that the album is "the soundtrack of a movie that hasn't been made yet" is fair but i think the album is the soundtrack for nowdays.

And I didn't want to cry! ... The Game was on and at first I just thought, wow! On the second listen I was overcome by tears because of the lyric... Thank you Ronan! 🖤🖤🖤

Fuck, Electric Sun is a solid album and it gets progressively intense and emotional. Ronan said on FB "When you finally get to hear it, please do me the honour of listening from start to finish. I’ve watched several people hear it like this and the reactions were pure and intensely emotional. Electric Sun is like a soundtrack to a film that hasn’t been made."

I definitely understand Borreh's criticisms, taken individually a lot of these songs don't hold up to those anthemic classics we're always skipping to. But this is the kind of concept album Ronan needed to make: just collecting disparate songs with some standouts wasn't cutting it anymore. NOIRE showed glimmers of potential for this idea which is why I liked it so much, but even there a lot of tracks didn't fit together and the pacing was off. I will agree the later songs here are better, but a lot of their impact comes from being contextualized by earlier ones (Before the Rain is a great example, as a single it feels too generic-VNV-platitudes but as the first track after an overture it makes perfect sense). I've always come to VNV for the neoclassical elements and bleeding heart secular worship vibes: in that regard Electric Sun feels like the most cohesive album they've ever made.

real... I understand what he said but I still disagree. How you eloquently put it makes way more sense and for that thanks for sharing your perspective, because I agree! I like the neoclassical parts too and VNV juxtapose them so beautifully with their Matter+Form/Futureperfect sound. And Noire was a big improvement since 2005's Matter+Form. Electric Sun just has more life and energy than Noire, which was missed since none of the albums since 2005 seem to grab me like the songs back then. Both the 2 recent VNV Nation albums in my opinion are VNV Nation returning to form

They really played a little cover of Dont Stop Believin' live during their song "Resolution" but it sounded great in VNV Nation's style. I can't lie they're pretty great!

'Electric Sun' is now April 14th, btw. "Sunflare" may still release this February, there is a clip on youtube.

This is incredibly off topic, but you are under every single artist I like, and with interesting comments too. Users like you make me wish LastFM was more community-based, like it used to be. Have a nice day!

I think you're mistaken. He doesn't so much look like Dean Norris as you say, as he does Michael Chiklis (The Shield). Some said he looks like Tom Shear, though I would again disagree... but the driver of Tom did ask if I was ready to go (as I happened to be staying in the same hotel) just minutes after my friend approached a random guy at a table with his girlfriend thinking it was me... damn it, not all bald guys look the same. COME ON!
