I've been immersing myself in Skinny Puppy's discography lately, including all their side projects. In my opinion, "Too Dark Park" stands as their pinnacle of creativity. While they began to define their style early on (although I believe some tend to overrate their earlier works), they truly honed it with albums like "Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse" and "Cleanse Fold and Manipulate". "VIVIsectVI" is undeniably a solid record, though I hold an unpopular opinion that some of their best tracks from those sessions ended up relegated to b-sides. Despite the divisive reception "Rabies" received among fans, I personally consider it as one of their finest works. "Too Dark Park" presents a clear and simple truth: everything they excelled at in their previous albums is showcased here in its perfect form – from production to compositions and that distinctive atmosphere.

Each track is great, sounds harsh yet manages to strike a powerful chord, especially with ohGr delivering some of his best vocals. Altogether, it makes "Too Dark Park" their magnum opus. It's similar to the consensus around Depeche Mode: an impressive discography with numerous standout albums, but everyone knows that "Violator" reigns supreme.

I also find it very catchy. I soft-ignore Rabies, but aside from it, VivisectVI is the one that I like the least, although I think that tracks like Testure, VX Gas Attack and Human Disease (S.K.U.M.M.) are great

It doesn't get much better than this. A masterpiece in every respect, with especially great production and engineering. Every sound seems to be perfectly realized.

I've owned this album on CD since the early 90s. Just as brilliant now as it was then. Absolutely unparalleled.

Can someone recommend albums which sound similar to this, not necessarily by the same band? (think I'm talking about the whole dystopian vibe). TIA.

1990 was a good year for SP. what happend after ? its like they stop caring about making quality good SP records and instead they just make some random crap and expect you to enjoy it. what a headache.
